LOOK 1 – My birthday!
Hooray for my birthday! My lovely husband Stephen took me out for a meal to one of our favourite local independent restaurants. We had a fabulous evening, going out is a rare occurrence since we had our son just over a year ago. It was really nice to spend a few hours of quality time together for a grown up evening.
Monochrome is one of my favourite looks, it’s a classic that will see you through any occasion. My top, would you believe, is from Asda and looks much more expensive than its £14 price tag. The white lace effect top came with the cami underneath which is handy to have for my white linen shirt as it can be a bit see through. My trustee high waisted black jeans from ASOS are the best ever. High waisted jeans are a god send for me as they hold in my ‘muffin top’ and create smoother lines without having to wear Spanx!
The wedges were from New Look last summer, I’ve had lots of nice complements when wearing them. To top it off I added a splash of red to my look with my trusty red Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Diana’ bag and, of course, my favourite red lippy.
LOOK 2 – Polo At The Manor, The Celtic Manor Resort.
Polo At The Manor is an annual event at The Celtic Manor Resort and this year I was invited as a guest of BMW to attend the VIP Queens Pavilion lunch and afternoon tea.
I couldn’t think of anyone better to join me for the afternoon than my all time bestie Claire. We have been friends for over 20 years and we very much enjoyed drinking Pimms then Prosecco, then more Prosecco (well it is going to be in short supply this year so we got it in while we could). Probably not supposed to admit but we were too busy chatting to watch much of the polo!
My shirt dress was something I saw online from Kalidescope. I wasn’t sure if it would be dressy enough for a polo look but I was really pleased when it arrived and the colour is gorgeous. It’s a crinkle fabric so it falls nicely over the lumps and bumps and because the material is really light it flows really nicely in the breeze when floating around on a summers day.
I treated myself to a new bag for the event from Harvey Nichols (love, love, love that store) the brightest yellow DKNY envelope bag you’ve ever seen. I’m really loving a yellow accessory at the moment, it’s actually really versatile and I haven’t stopped using it since.
My subtle nod to the current seventies trend came through my M&S shoes. I am obsessed with tan shoes as that’s my nude shoe colour and these cross over block heel platforms are really comfortable. I needed the nude shoe with this dress as its a midi length so I wanted to elongate my legs as you couldn’t see much of them and nude shoes do that brilliantly.
