Autumn might just be my favourite season, beautiful colours in the landscape, enjoying the warmth of an Indian Summer, and most importantly the transition into AW15 trends and styles for both fashion and beauty. I’ve already started to rock my new dark cherry/ berry lips for the new season and here are a few fashion ideas you can incorporate depending on whether you decide to spend or splurge!
The Suede Jacket
Left – SPEND on Dorothy Perkins Suedette Jacket £40;
Right – SPLURGE on Eileen Fisher Draped Suede Jacket, £800.
How about a triple trend whammy to start the proceedings, 70s – check; suede – check; khaki – check! I love these waterfall cut jackets, they will be great for the tricky traditional weather ahead of us as the season changes. Just throw on over t-shirt and jeans or use it to toughen up a glam evening look when the nights get a bit cooler.
The Folk Dress
Left – SPEND on ASOS Midi Cut-out Dress, £50;
Right – SPLURGE on Burberry Prorsum Patchwork Print Silk Dress, £2,595.
Ok, so I did say SPLURGE! Good luck to you if you fortunate enough to afford the beautiful Burberry Silk Dress, if not the ASOS copy is a fantastic substitute, ticking off the 70s trend again which is just impossible to escape for AW15, but with a folk vibe this time. Wear now for the end of summer/ early autumn with black ankle boots and bear legs, wear later with some tights and a high neck top underneath to keep the chill out of the cut-out areas.
The Denim Skirt
Left – SPEND on Dorothy Perkins Midwash Button Denim Pencil Skirt, £28;
Right – SPLURGE on Moschino Buttoned Stretch Denim Pencil Skirt, £349,
Denim skirts are a fashion staple, this seasons look is the button down pencil cut. Pencil skirts are super flattering, so why not try one in denim? The quirky style of the Moschino skirt cut to emulate a denim jacket collar is amazing. I’m a sucker for a denim skirt so I think I may have to add this DP classic to my capsule wardrobe for AW15.
The Berry Wrap
Left – SPEND on New Look Purple Contrast Trim Wrap, £22.99;
Right – SPLURGE on Etro Claret Leather Trimmed Cashmere Cape, £1,705.
A wrap is another great transitional piece, berry colours are classic for AW. The leather/ leather look trims give the wraps a luxe feel and each wrap has added detail to make things more interesting. The fringing on the Etro wrap is genius and I really like the darker colour contrast around the edge of the New Look wrap.
What do you think? Will any of these items make it into you AW15 wardrobe? But the question is will you SPEND or SPLURGE!
